Hundreds Turn Out To Protest Washington Redskins Name

(Minneapolis, MN) -- The chorus calling for the Washington Redskins to change their name is growing louder. Several hundred turned out to protest outside the Metrodome last night as Washington lost to the Minnesota Vikings, and Governor Mark Dayton earlier in the day called the nickname "offensive" and "racist." The team has been known as the Redskins since 1933, four years before moving from Boston to Washington.
