(St. Paul, MN) -- A statewide online voter registration will be created now that Governor Dayton has signed legislation to create it. The bill sailed through the House 129-2 and passed the Senate 41-24. The new law also lets voters apply for absentee ballots through the Secretary of State's website. Registering to vote using the online system will require an email address, a driver's license or state ID card number or the last four digits of the applicant's Social Security number.
