A Texas church recently used 1,000 drones as part of a Christmas celebration for the local community.

The Church on MastersRoad, located in Manvel, held their annual "Bright Lights" event on December 19th, 20th, and 21st, which included live music, food, and even a live Christmas drone show.

“What. A. Weekend. ✨” The church’s post on Facebook read. “The last two nights of Bright Night have been filled with joy, laughter, and celebrating the birth of Jesus together. From the drone show and live music to kids having the time of their lives—it’s been such a gift to share this with our community.”

The drone show tells the story of Christmas and shares the gospel, Church Leaders reported.

Additionally, the church also hosted an automobile giveaway titled “Cars for Christmas” for those in need.

“You’ll have a chance to share your story and why you’re in need of a car,” the church posted. “Cars are given away each night.”

“Bright Night. Thank you to every volunteer, every individual, and every family who came out to celebrate the birth of Jesus with us,” the MastersRoad wrote on Instagram on Monday.

“We pray this event blessed you as much as it blessed us. As you head into this Christmas season, remember the reason for it all—Merry Christmas.”

The church will also host 5 Christmas Eve Candlelight Services this Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7 p.m.

While some churches set up a Nativity scene, a Chicago-area church, Lake Street Church of Evanston, Illinois, sparked controversy after removing Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, in its nativity scene with a memorial to those affected by ICE raids, emphasizing the refugee status of the Holy Family.

“The Holy Family were refugees. This is not political interpretation, this is the reality described in the stories our tradition has told and retold for millennia,” the church said of the scene. “By witnessing this familiar story through the reality faced by migrants today, we hope to restore its radical edge, and to ask what it means to celebrate the birth of a refugee child while turning away those who follow in that child’s footsteps.”

Meanwhile, Champion Forest Baptist Church, a multisite church in Houston, faced an incident where a camel kicked a woman during a live nativity. As a result, the church stopped using animals in subsequent services.

The woman was transported to a hospital and later discharged.
