One member of an Australian morning television news program could not keep it together during an interview segment with a recognizable feline.
Anchors and reporters must be able to put outside distractions and their personal feelings aside to report and deliver the news to their viewers. While they are taught to do that, they are still humans. That, of course, means sometimes uncontrollable laughter does happen live on air.
A clip posted on YouTube shows Karl Stefanovic interviewing Grumpy Cat the feline who became an internet sensation because of its constant angry and annoyed expression.
The interview starts as expected. Karl asks the cat if its pleased to be sitting for an interview with the Today Show in Australia. After a nonresponse from the famous feline, Karl quickly moves on to the next topic: Mondays.
What about Mondays? Karl asks. I mean, its a Monday morning, it would be your favorite day of the week, wouldnt it?
Yet again, Karls question is met with no answer and a pained, upset expression from the cat.
The next question concerns the animals book, which had just been released. This time the cat moves slightly, possibly having enjoyed hearing its book mentioned on air.
After asking the cat its opinion on the countrys political leaders, Karl loses it. He starts to laugh uncontrollably, throwing himself back into his chair.
At one point, Karl, through laughter, points at the screen and says, Look at that cat!
He then compares the feline to a character from Star Wars.
Its like Jabba the Hut!
Karl ends the interview by stating that the segment has gone well and that he looks forward to catching up with the animal when it makes it to Australia.
At least Grumpy Cat was able to keep it professional and didnt even crack a smile throughout the segment.
