The Alliance Defending Freedom sent a letter Monday to a senior home that has banned its residents from singing Christmas carols, displaying any religious Christmas items, or even saying “Merry Christmas.”

The ADF says the complex wrongly claims that it cannot allow any residents to engage in religious expression because it accepts funds from HUD.

A building manager reportedly told residents that the federal Fair Housing Act prohibits any of them from saying “Merry Christmas” or referencing the Christian religion in any way.

The manager had apparently also ordered residents to remove Jewish symbols from their apartment doors.

The ADF informed the home that no federal law prohibits such religious expression.
