Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer shot back at critics protesting his selection for the new season of “Dancing With the Stars" Wednesday.

Some viewers started up a boycott of the show, complaining about the casting.

Host Tom Bergeron released a statement Wednesday objecting to Spicer's casting saying he would like the show to be a respite from the “exhausting political climate.”

Spicer told Fox News in a statement he thinks “when the season is over he’s probably going to realize bringing a diverse group of people together, who can interact in a fun, civil and respectful way, is actually a way we can move the country forward in a positive way.”
