FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino says he plans to leave job next month, ending brief tenure as bureau's No. 2 official.
Writing on X:
"I will be leaving my position with the FBI in January.
I want to thank President Trump, AG Bondi, and Director Patel for the opportunity to serve with purpose.
Most importantly, I want to thank you, my fellow Americans, for the privilege to serve you.
God bless America, and all those who defend Her."
President Donald Trump will deliver a rare evening address from the White House on Wednesday about his first year back in office, focusing on what he sees as big victories.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told reporters he may tease policy moves that are likely to come next year, too.
The address, scheduled for 9 p.m. EST in prime time for television viewers.
Trump's remarks, set to take place in the White House's Diplomatic Reception Room and not the Oval Office as presidential addresses often do.
Today, Josh unleashes on the chaos unfolding at Brown University, where the hunt for a double-murder suspect has turned into a masterclass in incompetence. From university leadership to law enforcement, Josh breaks down how every level of authority seems to be bungling this case in real time. He then turns to the death of Rob Reiner and his wife—explaining exactly why he’s not joining the media’s sanctimonious pile-on over President Trump’s comments. Finally, he tackles Megyn Kelly’s latest remarks and explains why, once again, they reveal far more about her worldview than about the facts.
Police intensified their search for a suspect in the fatally shooting of a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office says Nuno F.G. Loureiro, a 47-year-old professor of nuclear science and engineering, was shot Monday night in Brookline and died Tuesday at a local hospital. Officials say no suspects are in custody. Loureiro, who is from Portugal, joined MIT in 2016 and had been named last year to lead its Plasma Science and Fusion Center.
President Donald Trump is at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for the dignified transfer of two Iowa National Guard members and a U.S. civilian who were killed in an attack in Syria. The ritual Wednesday honors the fallen U.S. service members. Trump was at Dover for several dignified transfers in his first term. He once described this duty as “the toughest thing I have to do” as president. The Army says Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar and Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard of Iowa died in Saturday's attack. They were among hundreds of U.S. troops deployed in eastern Syria as part of a coalition fighting the Islamic State group.
Authorities are asking the public to review any security or phone footage from the week before the mass shooting at Brown University in the hopes it might help investigators identify the suspect, believing he may have cased the scene ahead of time. With the search for the shooter in its fifth day Wednesday, the city of Providence is on edge, with investigators showing no sign that they're close to figuring out who was behind Saturday's attack that killed two students and wounded nine others. The request to review older video came after authorities released several clips from the hours and minutes before and after the attack. In all of those, the suspect was masked or had his head turned.
Nick Reiner, son of Rob Reiner, appeared in court as he faces charges of first-degree murder in the killing of his parents. The 32-year-old did not enter a plea as he appeared Wednesday from behind the glass wall of a custody area. He was in shackles and wearing a jail suicide prevention smock. Arraignment was postponed until Jan. 7. The 78-year-old actor and director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead from stab wounds in their Los Angeles home Sunday. Nick Reiner was arrested hours later.
