As many of you know, Mexico is one of my most favorite places in the world. Most of my time has been spent on the East side of the country in the Cancun area. However, the Baja side of things is equally amazing. But the Riviera Maya has some long-awaited news for us! Mexico's Riviera Maya is synonymous with golden sun paradise, but to get there you essentially had to fly to Cancun or Cozumel. However, Tulum's new Felipe Carrilo Puerto International Airport (TQO) recently welcomed its first international flights. The new airport is conveniently located just a 30-minute drive from Tulum's renowned beaches and ancient Mayan ruins.
Several major airlines, including American, Delta, and United, have already launched nonstop flights to Tulum from various U.S. cities, with more routes in the pipeline.
American Airlines offers daily nonstop service from Charlotte and Miami to Tulum, as well as twice-daily flights from Dallas-Fort Worth, all operated on Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Delta inaugurated year-round service from its Atlanta hub to Tulum, with plans for potential routes from other cities like New York, Detroit, and Minneapolis in the future.
JetBlue plans to commence daily service from New York-JFK to Tulum, featuring their Airbus A320 aircraft equipped with amenities such as live TV and free Wi-Fi.
United Airlines now operates daily flights from Chicago, Houston, and Newark to Tulum, with additional service from Los Angeles set to begin for Memorial Day weekend.
Spirit Airlines had announced plans for Tulum flights from Orlando and Fort Lauderdale but postponed the launch due to fleet constraints.
Overall, the new airport in Tulum expands travel options to Mexico, catering to a diverse range of travelers seeking sun, sand, and cultural experiences.
