An investigation has been requested after it was discovered that the Texas Democratic Party asked non-citizens to register to vote by sending out applications with the box indicating citizenship already checked “Yes.”

The Washington Times reports new complaints filed Thursday asked prosecutors to see what laws may have been broken and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has vowed to investigate.

This, after the Texas secretary of state’s office said it had gotten complaints both from immigrants and from relatives of dead people who said they got mailings asking them to register.

They said the non-citizens who called were asking if there was some new change that made them now legally able to vote.

The state’s Democratic Party did not comment.
